Sick Leave

Sick leave is a form of insurance that is accumulated in order to provide a cushion for incapacitation due to illness. It should be used only when actually required to recover from illness or off-the-job injury. Time off for medical and dental appointments will be treated as sick leave. Temporary and part-time employees will not be eligible for sick leave benefits.

The Company offers five (5) paid sick days to regular full-time employees. Sick days do not carry over to the following year if they are unused. If sick leave is exhausted, employees must take their Personal Days until the Short Term Disability insurance is activated after fifteen (15) days of continuous absence.

If you are absent due to illness for three (3) consecutive days or more, you may be required to provide medical evidence of your illness and/or medical certification of your ability to return to work. This evidence must be in a form satisfactory to the Company and is required before sick pay will be given. For absences less than three (3) days, medical certification may also be required. If there is reason to believe that sick leave has been misused, sick pay may not be awarded.

Your sick time will be "charged" for any portion of the day used for medical or dental appointments. In addition, your sick time will be "charged" for arriving to work late or leaving work early due to illness. When possible, please schedule medical and/or dental appointments at the beginning and/or end of the workday.

Unused sick time is not paid upon termination and is not reinstated upon re-employment.
