General

Why the site is only available in English?

That has a lot to do on how the site started, but if you still wonder why I haven't added a Spanish version. I guess it is because lack of time, the site as it is, is huge, considering that I work on it on my spare time --whenever that happens to be, hehehe-- and with updates every other day, imagine that doubled. Believe me, I would love to have an Spanish version, (Spanish is still my first language) but simply I don't have the time.

Who supports the site?

People often assume that this site is created and/or sponsored by a company or a number of them. This is not the case. I do run with costs, management and maintenances. Donations and sponsorships are welcome.

Who are you?

For the basic details, please visit my personal home page.

What browser should I use?

Generally you'll find that the latest version of either Netscape's Navigator or Microsoft's Internet Explorer will give you good results. But any browser that supports the features supported by Navigator 2.0 should display the site as I intend it to be seen. If you have any kind of problems related to browser performance and display, please feel free to report it, so I can solve the problem or provide a solution.

More Information

Why I couldn't find information on this "topic" or "person"?

Please consider that 'Welcome to Puerto Rico!' web site offers all this information for free of charge to its visitors. As you can imagine reading, researching, editing, creating and finally adding all the elements that makes the site a solid source of information, it does cost time and money to run and support.

So, if you still wondering why I did not include information about the subject you are inquiring about it maybe for the following reasons:

  1. I do not have the information on hand, (99%)
  2. I have not got the time to research and/or add it to the site or
  3. I do not have the funding to increase to the capacity of such service

I'll have to admit that some requests surprise me. Specially those requests that are coming from people who are living in the island. If after searching the 'Welcome to Puerto Rico!' web site you haven't found answers to your questions, my best advise is to make a visit to your city public library. And in the case you are near an university, its library will be your best source of information. Otherwise, I'm really sorry you couldn't find the information you were looking for. I always try to place as much information as I received, but sometimes I don't have the time or I just simply do not have everything I wish to place on the site for the benefit of its visitors. Your suggestions over what other topics can be covered here are welcome, and for future additions to the site those requests will be considered.

Can you send me information about prices and reservations for hotels and restaurants?

I would love to, but unfortunately such task consumes a lot of time, considering the vast amount of options available and all the choices that may be obtained to fit your needs. You may want to consult a travel agent.

Where can I obtain maps to plan my travels?

You can buy maps practically at any store or gas station. Many recommend the Metro Data Map, which contains the most current and accurate map information available. If you are renting a car, the car rental agency may also provide you with a map, usually by request.

If you prefer to study your route before traveling you can purchase or download maps online.

Can you send me more information by mail?

Welcome to Puerto Rico! does not provide such service. It is an Internet oriented service only. I'm sorry but I don't have the resources or funding to do so.

Can you help me obtain employment information?

I'm sorry, I can't. You may want to visit company web sites that are located in Puerto Rico and look for their employment opportunities section. In addition, you may contact family members or friends that can collect information from newspapers and other sources that may be of interest to you.

Can you send me the address and/or phone number for business "X" of for person "Y"?

I'm sorry, I can't. You can call the Information Service at 787-555-1212.

Can you locate a family member called "Juan Bobo" that used to live in "Monte Lejano"?

I'm sorry, I won't be able to help you on that respect. Please remember that Puerto Rico's population is 3,887,652 according to the last estimates for 1999. With so many people on and out the island is impossible for ME to locate somebody. I do not have the resources to do so.
Basic information that you will need for your search are: Name, Last Known Address and Social Security Number. I suggest you to contact as many friends and family as you can to obtain further information that may lead you to find this person. In addition, you can hire a private investigator or a "people finder" organization service, that specializes on locating people. Tip: always ask for references.

Can I help with your web site?

Yes, you can. If you wish to contribute with information, please feel free to do so, credits will be given to contributors. I am sure other people will keep coming back to the site to learn more about Puerto Rico and its culture.

When sending information please make sure you include source of information: book title, author, year of publication, and publisher. Please remember that some information can not be copied as it is, dependent on copyrights, but I can do some more research and write a nice paragraph, introduction and/or article about the topic. If you wish to make a donation please feel free to do so.

How can I make use of any of the available information, graphics, photos, etc. found at Welcome to Puerto Rico! web site?

I sent you a message, why did I not get a response?

As I mentioned before, due to the large number of e-mails I receive every day, it's not possible for me to reply to each message.
